Biography

Graduated in Biological Sciences, Medical modality in 1968 and graduated in Medicine in 1972 from Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto – University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP). Took a year of Residency in General clinic and two years in Psychiatry, concluded in 1975 at FMRP – USP’s Clinical Hospital. Obtained the title of PhD in Psychobiology from São Paulo Medical School in 1980, became associate professor of Psychiatry in 1987 and obtained the title of Full professor of Psychiatry in 1995, the latter two from FMRP-USP. Worked as teacher in the Psychology Faculty of Assis – UNESP, from 1976 to 1977, in the Faculty of Medical Sciences of UNICAMP in 1981 and FMRP-USP from 1982 to the present.

Areas of Interest

Has developed research on: the therapeutic potential of Cannabis Sativa derivative substances, assessment instruments in Psychiatry, anxiety, schizophrenia, assessment of mental health services and clinical pharmacology.

Biography

Dr. Del-Ben graduated in Medicine from Londrina State University (1988) and took Medical Residency in Psychiatry (1989 – 1992) at Ribeirão Preto Medical School Clinical Hospital – University of Sao Paulo. She obtained Master’s (1995) and Doctoral degree (2000) in Medicine (Mental Health) from University of São Paulo ans took postdoctoral internship at the Psychiatry and Neurosciences Unit of Manchester University, United Kingdom (2002-2003). Coordinated the Mental Health Graduate Program of FMRP-USP (2004-2010). Currently Dr. Del-Ben is an associate professor of the Department of Neurosciences and Behavior from the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto of the University of São Paulo and the coordinator of FMRP-USP Medical Residency Program in Psychiatry. She has medical experience with emphasis on Psychiatry, and her main interest in research are Neurobiology of Anxiety and Emotion Processing, Psychiatric Emergencies and Neuroimaging and Diagnosis in Psychiatry.

Areas of Interest

Research interests are the Neurobiology of Anxiety Disorders and Emotion Processing and the application of neuroimaging techniques to better understand the neural substrates involved in the Physiopathogeny of Mental Disorders. Also develops studies aimed to describe indicators of the organization and operation of services and practices in Mental Health, with emphasis on Psychiatric Emergencies as well as for the development and validation of assessment tools in psychiatry. More recently, has been conducting studies aimed at medical teaching.

Biography

Professor at the University of São Paulo, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, Department of Neuroscience and Behavior. Graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1984), specializing in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Institute of UFRJ (1986). Earned his doctoral in medicine in the area of ​​Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Germany, Heidelberg University (1993), with a grant from CNPq. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Psychiatry of UFRJ from 1993 to 1994, with an RD grant from CNPq. Did postdoctoral studies in the area of ​​Alcohol and Drugs in the Central Institute of Mental Health – Mannheim, Germany, from 2000 to 2001, with a FAPESP grant. He is the main researcher and coordinator of the Center for Clinical Research in Psychiatry and Psychopathology, FMRP-USP. Coordinator of PAI-PAD – Program for Integrated Actions for Prevention and Attention to Use of Alcohol and Drugs in the Community – a HC-FMRP-USP program. Committee member of the International Network For Brief Interventions On Alcohol Problems. Coordinator of INEBRIA LATINA Forum and editor of its newsletter (www.inebrialatina.org). Has projects in cooperation with the World Health Organization, with the Pan American Health Organization and international partnerships in the U.S. and Germany. 26 articles, 11 book chapters, 100 abstracts published in congresses. Has projects selected for funding by research agencies FAPESP, CNPq, CAPES and the Ministry of Health. Dr. Erikson is a professor and mentor in the graduate programs of Toxicology FCFRP-USP and Mental Health FMRP-USP, having completed to date mentoring of eight master’s , two post-doctoral and 14 scientific initiation projects, most of them with support from research agencies. Currently guides four doctoral students, three master’s students and three scientific initiation students. He is a member of the editorial board of three magazines and ad-hoc advisor in thirteen national and international scientific journals. Member of the brazilian group in Treatnet II program from UNODC United Nations Office for Drugs and Crime.

Graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1981), obtained doctoral (1987) and Full professorship (1994) in Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirao Preto, University of Sao Paulo. Performed his postdoctoral studies at the University of Manchester, England (1989-1990) under the supervision of Dr. JFW Deakin. He is currently Full Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirao Preto, University of Sao Paulo. Dr. Guimarães has experience in the area of ​​pharmacology with emphasis on Neuropsychopharmacology. He has published 124 papers in journals of international impact, 22 book chapters and one book (co-authored). Dr. Santos has been awarded by CNPq with the grant Productivity in Research – LEVEL II. Graduated in Physics from the University of São Paulo (1965), Master in Sociology from the University of Chicago (1968) and Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of São Paulo (1972). Received the titles of Associate Professor at the Faculty of Public Health of USP (1985) and Professor of Demography in the same Faculty (1992) and is currently professor of the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirao Preto, University of Sao Paulo. He was a member of the advisory committee of CAPES – area of ​​Urban and Regional Planning and Population in 2001-2003 and 2004-2006 triennial evaluations, he is also part of the group of referees of the following publications: Latin American Journal of Nursing (Ribeirao Preto), Journal of Public Health, Brazilian Journal of Epidemiology, Journal of the Brazilian Medical Association, Nursing School Journal (São Paulo) and the Journal of the Brazilian Association for Population Studies (ABEP). Obteve os graus de Bacharel e Licenciado em Psicologia em 2000 e o grau de Psicólogo em 2001, complementado pelo curso de Formação Especial em Pesquisa pela Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras de Ribeirão Preto da Universidade de São Paulo. Desenvolve atividades de pesquisa junto ao Departamento de Neurociências e Ciências do Comportamento da Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto – USP desde 2004 com ênfase na área de processamento de emoções e funcionamento cognitivo em pacientes psiquiátricos. Obteve o título de Mestre em Saúde Mental pela FMRP-USP em 2008 e o título de Doutor na mesma área e instituição em abril de 2012. Iniciou o pós-doutorado em julho de 2012, trabalhando com pesquisas nas áreas de neurobiologia da esquizofrenia e da ansiedade pelo Instituto Nacional de Ciência e Tecnologia – Medicina Translacional (CNPq).

Biological and psychosocial risk factors for development disorders; bio-behavioral reactivity and development in newborn and pre-term infants/children; long-term effects of early experiences of pain and stress in child development, assessment and management of pain, temperament and behavior in vulnerable children. The focus of my interdisciplinary line of research is the bio-behavioral reactivity and development of children, involving multiple motor, cognitive, behavior, temperament and self-regulation aspects. The studied samples were neonates, infants and preschool children of various vulnerable populations (premature, low socioeconomic status, chronic pain, sick). The main focus is the preterm and very low birth weight (<1,500 g) child. The prospective-longitudinal allow assessment of the impact of the biological risk of prematurity in developmental trajectories. Research performed in this line of investigation are subsidized by FAPESP and CNPq.

Took medical residency in General and Community Medicine, Psychiatry residency and the Interdisciplinary Specialization Course in Mental Health of the School of Public Health of RS/São Pedro Psychiatric Hospital, Porto Alegre-RS. Obtained the Master””s degree from the Department of Psychobiology, Federal University of São Paulo-UNIFESP/EPM, and a second Master’s in Affective Neuroscience, from Universiteit Maastricht, Netherlands and doctoral (PhD in Psychiatry) from London University and Postdoctoral from King’s College Institute of Psychiatry, London. Specialist in Adult Psychiatry in the UK according to The Specialist Training Authority of the Medical Royal Colleges (STA) and the General Medical Council (GMC-full registration). Completed Training in Cognitive Psychotherapy at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research.

Has developed Education, Training, Qualification of Human Resources, Planning and Consulting activities in the area of ​​Public Health with emphasis in Mental Health, Psychiatry, Psychopharmacology and Neurosciences. Published over 70 original research articles, reviews and book chapters and edited four books. Most of his studies concern Pathophysiology, Diagnosis and Treatment of Affective, Depressive and Bipolar Disorders and its connection with Stress.

He is currently Associate Editor of BMC Psychiatry and member of the Editorial Board of Acta Neuropsychiatrica, International Scholarly Research Network (ISRN) and reviewer of dozens of high-impact international journals. Dr. Juruena has countless participations in international conferences as a speaker, as in the British Assotiation for Psychopharmacology which gave their main award “The Senior Clinical Psychopharmacology Award.” Received from the Royal College of Psychiatrists the Robert W. Kerwin Psychopharmacology Prize in 2010 for best article published on the subject in the British Journal of Psychiatry in the period.

Member of the Committee of Experts in Affective Diseases of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP). Reviewer of CID-11/ World Health Organization (ICD-11/WHO) in the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Group.

He is currently a Professor in the Department of Neuroscience and Behavior and in the Mental Health Graduate Program, FMRP, University of São Paulo (USP) and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London.
