Graduated in Psychology from the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Ribeirão Preto – USP (1997), obtained Doctoral degree in Mental Health from the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto – USP (2008) and Postdoctoral degree from the National Institute of Science and Technology in Translational Medicine and the Department of Neuroscience and Behavior, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto-USP (2010). She is currently a mentor in the Graduate Program in Mental Health of the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto-USP and a liaison psychiatry clinical psychologist in the Clinical Hospital Mental Health Department, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto – USP, where she oversees internships for psychology undergraduate and graduate students.

Biography

Graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1981), obtained doctoral (1987) and Full professorship (1994) in Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirao Preto, University of Sao Paulo. Performed his postdoctoral studies at the University of Manchester, England (1989-1990) under the supervision of Dr. JFW Deakin. He is currently Full Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirao Preto, University of Sao Paulo. Dr. Guimarães has experience in the area of ​​pharmacology with emphasis on Neuropsychopharmacology. He has published 124 papers in journals of international impact, 22 book chapters and one book (co-authored). Mentored 16 master’s , 10 doctoral (plus two as co-mentor) and 2 postdoctoral dissertations. Currently mentors two master’s , seven doctoral and one postdoctoral dissertations.

Graduated in Medicine from Federal University of Triangulo Mineiro (1990), obtained his master’s (Mental Health) from University of São Paulo (1998), Ph.D. in Medicine (Mental Health) from the University of São Paulo (2002) and postdoctoral degree from the University of Manchester – England (2003). He is currently a Full Professor of the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto.

Biografia

Obteve os graus de Bacharel e Licenciado em Psicologia em 2000 e o grau de Psicólogo em 2001, complementado pelo curso de Formação Especial em Pesquisa pela Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras de Ribeirão Preto da Universidade de São Paulo. Desenvolve atividades de pesquisa junto ao Departamento de Neurociências e Ciências do Comportamento da Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto – USP desde 2004 com ênfase na área de processamento de emoções e funcionamento cognitivo em pacientes psiquiátricos. Obteve o título de Mestre em Saúde Mental pela FMRP-USP em 2008 e o título de Doutor na mesma área e instituição em abril de 2012. Iniciou o pós-doutorado em julho de 2012, trabalhando com pesquisas nas áreas de neurobiologia da esquizofrenia e da ansiedade pelo Instituto Nacional de Ciência e Tecnologia – Medicina Translacional (CNPq).

Graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Paraná (1994), took residency at the Clinical Hospital of the Faculty of Medicine of USP-RP (1995-1998). Obtained the doctoral degree in medicine (Mental Health) from FMRP, University of Sao Paulo (2001). Postdoctoral degree accomplished at the Institute of Psychiatry in London (London University, Kings College) in the area of ​​neuroimaging (2002-2003). He is currently tenured Professor of the Department of Neurology, Psychiatry and Medical Psychology, FMRP, University of Sao Paulo, and coordinator of the service of the Mental Health Liaison of FMRP-USP Clinical Hospital and productivity researcher of CNPq.

Currently, he is a professor of the Gerontology Department of the Federal University of São Carlos and a mentor of the Graduate Programs in Psychology (UFSCar), Gerontology (UFSCar) and Mental Health (FMRP-USP). Co-investigator of the Pain in Child Health: A CIHR Strategic Training Initiative in Health Research.

Areas of Interest

Biological and psychosocial risk factors for development disorders; bio-behavioral reactivity and development in newborn and pre-term infants/children; long-term effects of early experiences of pain and stress in child development, assessment and management of pain, temperament and behavior in vulnerable children. The focus of my interdisciplinary line of research is the bio-behavioral reactivity and development of children, involving multiple motor, cognitive, behavior, temperament and self-regulation aspects. The studied samples were neonates, infants and preschool children of various vulnerable populations (premature, low socioeconomic status, chronic pain, sick). The main focus is the preterm and very low birth weight (<1,500 g) child. The prospective-longitudinal allow assessment of the impact of the biological risk of prematurity in developmental trajectories. Research performed in this line of investigation are subsidized by FAPESP and CNPq.

Biography

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the Centro Universitário de Brasília (2005), a master’s degree in Psychology from the Universidade de Brasília (2006) and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain (2012). He developed his postdoctoral studies in the Postgraduate Program in Neurology and Neurosciences of the Department of Neurosciences and Behavior of the Ribeirão Preto Medical School – University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP), researching the effects of ayahuasca on healthy volunteers an in clinical populations (depression, social anxiety) (2014-2018).
He currently performs postdoctoral studies in the Postgraduate Program in Mental Health of the FMRP-USP, researching the effects of ayahuasca on emotional processing and on the endocannabinoid system and the effects of ibogaine in alcoholic patients. He has been developing research activities with the National Institute of Science and Technology – Translational Medicine (CNPq) since 2014, investigating the potential therapeutic use of ayahuasca and cannabidiol (CBD) in neuropsychiatric disorders.
He is a master’s adviser in the Postgraduate Program in Mental Health of the FMRP-USP.
